In Action!

In order to put the tubes together, we drilled holes into them and attached them using nuts and bolts. The overall weight of each surpassed our imagination, so we consulted with Professor Cam Lorendo, who teaches Construction in order to safely suspend the 78 lbs stations from the ceiling. He advised us to use the correct hardware in order to make it work.

Installing the listening stations took an entire day. We wheeled the two stations from our studio, down to the lobby site. Many hardware and tools we used for the first time and stepped above our comfort level for height in order to reach the ceiling on a ladder and drill holes and screw in the hooks. After hours of crimping hanging wires, screwing in hooks to the ceiling, measuring the distance of the hooks, and countless runs to the woodshop to use their cutting tools and asking for advise, we finally were able to test out our structural endeavor! After removing the stools that held up the stations, we were happy to see they held up on their own.
