Virtual Museum

What’s Your Story? is currently featured in the Pratt Pop Up Container at the Dekalb Market from April 6th- May 5th. A project that originated from an assignment in the Exhibition Design Intensive course, a part of the Interior Design Master’s program, is now brought to life at the Pratt container. What’s Your Story? gives people the opportunity to exchange not only the physical object, but also share the stories and memories that come attached. So bring your item, and the story behind it and propose an exchange. If your story is super great-you just might win the exchange!

What’s Your Story? at Green Week

by Student on April 9, 2012

The Green Week at the Pratt campus was a great opportunity for the team to test their idea and see how people react and get involved. The design team showcased stories and objects originally obtained from ‘free section ‘ from craigslist for swap. The project received some great response and both student and faculty involvement. At the Green Week the aspect of donating an object without essentially swapping seemed like a popular choice for people who did not want anything but had a great story about an object they no longer needed and wanted to pass on.

What’s Your Story ? Table at Green Week

Some of the stories from Green Week are –

Maggie’s Hula Hoop

Maggie dances with hoops. She has always been a dancer but when she saw a girl dancing with a hoola hoop, she knew she had to try it.Maggie made her first hula hoop from scratch. She has now moved onto heavier hoops.Do you want Maggie’s homemade hoop?

Mai’s Shoes

Mai is a self-professed shoe “addict”. She loves shoes and especially heels. But now, as a middle aged woman, she finds her beloved heels are no longer a realistic option. Mai’s identity is altering and her style changing. As a testament to this she gave us some four-inch black heels -that she has never been able to wear. They are size 8.5. Do you want Mai’s heels?

Mark’s Music Ticket

Mark was in Boston on St. Patrick’s day when he heard some music he will never forget. He was waiting for the train with some friends after a long and crazy night when a group of musicians began to play. Mark says it was “the best music” he had ever heard. He took their card and downloaded some free music. He now wants to pass this gift on.Do you want Mark’s favorite music?

Enrico’s Zombie Jazz

Enrico believes music should be shared freely. This is why Enrico wanted to share his music with us -so that we could share it with you. He gave us a favorite CD of his, from a group he was once a part of. It’s called Zombie Jazz and it was inspired by a love of old zombie movies -and jazz.Do you want Enrico’s Zombie Jazz?

Nestifellie’s Babygear

Nestifellie’s art can be babyish. That’s because she uses baby gear to build sculptures. Nestifellie explores the lives of babies through her use of their belongings. She enthusiastically gave us some (tiny) odd socks and a teething toy that never quite made it into a piece.Do you want Nestifellie’s baby belongings?

Hannah’s Clothes

Hannah’s clothes express who she is. She alters her clothing to fit her creative spirit. Her pieces can’t be purchased or found anywhere else. But she is now passing on some clothes that no longer express who she is. This clothing is from her teenage years, from good times, long gone by. She hopes that these clothes will go on to have more good times. Do you want Hannah’s creative clothing?

Jennifer’s Clothes

Jen’s clothes express who she is. She alters her clothing to fit her creative spirit. Her pieces can’t be purchased or found anywhere else. She is now passing on some clothes that no longer fit her changing style. This clothing is from her teenage years, from good times, long gone by.She hopes that these clothes will go on to have more good times.Do you want Jennifer’s creative clothing?
